Antalya, one of the main tourist centers of the Mediterranean, made a fast start to the 2023 tourism season, as predicted by the representatives of the tourism industry.
In the city, which had the best months of January and February in terms of tourism in recent months, another record was broken in March. According to the data of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism of the Governorship of Antalya, the number of tourists visiting the city by air between January 1 and March 31 was 797 thousand 920. This number went down in history as the best start of all time in the tourism.
2021 AND 2022 TOTALLY BEHIND
The tourism data for 2023 in Antalya exceeded the total number of tourists who visited the city by air between January 1 and March 31 in 2021 and 2022. In the same period of 2021, the number of tourists who visited the city by air was 266 thousand 791, in 2022 515 thousand 304 tourists, while in 2023 the number of tourists visiting the city by air was 797 thousand 920. In 2019, known as the year of records in tourism, this number was recorded as 579 thousand 478 people.
INCREASE IN MONTHLY AND ANNUAL RATE CONTINUES
In Antalya, which is described as the ‘capital of tourism’ in terms of the number of tourists it hosts, the monthly and yearly rise in tourist numbers continues. While 226 thousand 314 people visited Antalya by air between March 1 and March 31 in 2022, this number reached 347 thousand 635 with an increase of 54 percent in the same period of 2023. Looking at the dates between January 1 and March 31; While 515 thousand 304 people visited Antalya by air between January 1 and March 31 in 2022, the number reached 797 thousand 920 with an increase of 55 percent in the same period of 2023. After January and February, the best month of March was also recorded in Antalya.
RUSSIAN AND GERMAN ARE IN FIRST PLACE
In terms of the number of tourists visiting Antalya by air in 2023, the Russians rank first and the Germans second. Between January 1 and March 31, most tourists came to Antalya from Russia with 213 thousand 101. Russia was followed by Germany with 169 thousand 228 tourists and then England with 88 thousand 572 tourists.
The other countries that sent the most tourists to Antalya by air during the three-month period were Poland, Iran, Israel, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Ukraine and Denmark, respectively. The percentage distribution of tourists visiting Antalya by air is; Russia 30.98 percent, Germany 24.60 percent, England 12.88 percent, Poland 3.55 percent, Iran 2.57 percent, Israel 2.47 percent, Kazakhstan 1.99 percent, Netherlands 1.66%, Ukraine 1 percent 0.65 and Denmark 1.35 percent.
