Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu reviewed data on the number of cruise ships and passengers anchored in Turkish ports.
Minister Uraloğlu stated that the tourism sector is going through some hard times due to some negativity in the world: “However, despite these negativity in tourism, our country has become the country in high demand. The biggest indicator of this is the increasing cruise tourism. The number of cruise ships and passengers arriving at our ports almost broke a record compared to last year.”
Minister Uraloğlu shared the following information about the number of cruise ships and passengers calling at the ports in June and January-June this year:
“The number of cruise ships calling at our ports in June 2023 increased by 14.8 percent from the same month of last year to reach 140. The number of cruise passengers arriving at our ports in June increased by 58.2 percent from the same month. of the previous year, reaching 183,407.In January-June of this year, the number of cruise ships calling at our ports increased by 32.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year to 420, and the number of cruise passengers arriving at our ports increased by 88.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 482 thousand 925.
DISTRIBUTION OF THE NUMBER OF CROSSSHIPS AND PASSENGERS BY PORTS

“Port of Kusadasi: In June 2023, 66 cruise ships visited the port of Kuşadası and 100,000 638 cruise passengers arrived. In the period January-June of 2023, 191 cruise ships visited the port of Kuşadası and 258,719 cruise passengers arrived.
Istanbul Ports: In June 2023, 22 cruise ships visited the ports of Istanbul and 44,744 cruise passengers arrived. In the period January-June 2023, 72 cruise ships visited the ports of Istanbul and 115,760 cruise passengers arrived.
Cesme Port: In June 2023, 14 cruise ships visited the port of Çeşme and 11,721 cruise passengers arrived. In the period January-June of 2023, 34 cruise ships visited the port of Çeşme and 20,139 cruise passengers arrived.
Bodrum Port: In June 2023, 10 cruise ships visited Bodrum port and 9,446 cruise passengers arrived. In the period January-June of 2023, 29 cruise ships visited Bodrum port and 23,332 cruise passengers arrived.

Other ports: In June 2023, a total of 23 cruise ships visited other ports, except for the first 5 ports where most cruise ships arrived, and 15,516 cruise passengers arrived. In the period January-June 2023, a total of 76 cruise ships visited and 55,889 cruise passengers arrived at other ports, with the exception of the first 5 ports where most cruise ships arrived.
