Eye aesthetics has become one of the most commonly performed surgeries

Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Specialist Dr. Ainura Sarybaeva said that “blepharoplasty”, that is, aesthetics around the eyes, is on the list of the most commonly performed operations. Mention that the signs of aging on the upper and middle face first appear around the eyes and that the focus of aging in these areas is the eyes. Sarybaeva stated that the eye rejuvenation procedures are directly related to the evaluation of the eyebrow and the center of the face.

Dr. Sarybaeva pointed out that the goal of blephoroplasty surgery is to “remove the tired expression caused by aging, sagging skin due to gravity and accumulation of fat pads and give a younger appearance”. Dr. Dr. Sarybaeva said, “In addition, the position of the eyebrows in blephoroplasty ensures integrity in the correction of midface prolapse, and whether additional procedures are required is determined by the patient.”
By stating that only upper blephoroplasty surgery is scheduled, the procedure can be performed with local anesthesia and takes 30 to 50 minutes. Sarybaeva said: “If simultaneous operations are performed on the upper and lower eyelids, the operation is performed under general anesthesia for the comfort of the patient. According to the patient, upper and lower blephoroplasty can be combined with other procedures such as eyebrow lift and mid-face lift.

“Usually it is done after the age of 30”

Emphasizing that aesthetic blephoroplasty is usually done after age 30, but there is no set age limit, says Dr. Sarybaeva cited Asian eyelid surgery as an example and said that it can also be applied in cases where the patient wants a change in appearance depending on the anatomical features in the periorbital region. He added that unlike blephoroplasty for aesthetic purposes, blepharoplasties for functional ptosis repair are also applied to the upper eyelid in cases of congenital or acquired unilateral or bilateral eyelid prolapse at different levels.

“The healing process is going smoothly”

Dr. Dr. Sarybaeva stated that general anesthesia is preferred for the procedure in children with droopy eyelids. Dr. Sarybaeva pointed out that the post-surgery recovery period may vary from patient to patient, saying: “The sutures are removed 1 week after surgery, the degree of swelling and bruising due to the surgery varies from patient to patient, but it takes an average of 10-14 days, and the recovery process is generally comfortable and comfortable.”
