With the summer months, the sun started to show its effect more. Citizens prefer different glasses to protect themselves from sun rays. Although many diseases in the eyes and skin occur due to sunlight, Abdurrahim Erdoğan, president of the 21st Region Southeast Opticians and Opticians Chamber, warned citizens to be careful about the sunglasses they wear when they go out in the middle of the day.
Erdoğan said that the ultraviolet (UV) rays emitted by the sun cause serious problems for the eyes and skin, saying, “Although the ultraviolet (UV) rays emitted by the sun are refracted in the atmosphere, they form serious problems for our eyes and skin. Using quality sunglasses on sunny days, especially in the summer months, prevents many problems such as cataracts, glaucoma, skin around the eyes and eye bleeding. It’s also important to wear sunglasses that are made of high-quality UV,” he said.
Erdoğan underlined that the coloring process of under-stairs sunglasses is obtained from dye and that this dye causes serious damage to the eyes, Erdoğan said: broken on the glass, passing through our pupils and causing a healthy appearance at the yellow spot. This is the journey of quality sunglasses through our eyes. In fake or non-original sunglasses, which we call under the stairs, this coloring process is obtained from paint. This dye causes excessive growth of our pupils, the harmful light of the sun does not refract on the glass, and after passing through our pupil, which we call the yellow spot, causes serious damage to the image area and acquires the image. That causes serious eye diseases, as we described at the beginning.”
Recommending that citizens buy sunglasses from opticians selling under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, Erdoğan said:
“Our citizens must buy sunglasses safely from opticians, which are under the control of the Ministry of Health and routinely checked. Make them realize that not all black glasses are safety goggles. Healthy sunglasses are made of UV. Other types of glasses are sunglasses which are harmful to eyes, skin and health.”
