Although it is more common in women aged 25-55 and in women, the disease can also be seen in men and in childhood. It is more common in people with an education and economic level above average.

Sleep disorders, major physical trauma like fall or car accident, mental trauma like loss of a loved one, some viral diseases, some rheumatic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis are the factors that cause the formation of the disease.

Radiological examinations may be performed to rule out other diseases. In physiotherapy applications, positive results are obtained with hot application, deep heating elements and electrical stimulation and massage with analgesic properties. In addition, spa treatments are recommended. Climate has no influence on the onset of fibromyalgia, but cold and damp weather increases the symptoms of fibromyalgia syndrome. In warm and dry weather, massages and sports activities reduce the symptoms.
