Healthy snack suggestions for kids

Digestion is similar to children’s behavior. If a child is playing with a toy and you show him a new toy, he will be attracted and led to it. Thus, playing with the previous toy ends and handling with the new toy begins. The digestion of food can end in a similar way. Even if you have a very good breakfast, if you eat a snack within an hour or two, in some cases digestion will not continue and you will get hungry much faster because the good breakfast you ate before has not been fully digested. We call this resetting the digestive system.

However, since the metabolism in children is fast and the need for energy is high, digestion can be shortened to 3 hours. For this reason, hunger can set in more quickly, especially in children who are active and playing. In this case, it would be more appropriate for the child to provide the necessary energy by taking a snack between meals rather than taking another meal. Children may feel hungry between meals and may need a new food. While playing games, on vacation or in the summer by the sea, and in the schools that will open soon, they may get hungry and want something to eat during breaks. In this case, the main danger that awaits them is that they upset their digestion with wrong snacks and feel an aversion to healthy food.

Humans have a strong digestive system that is fed with many different food groups and can meet all of their needs by digesting these foods. But we can easily make this perfect digestive system lazy with harmful snacks, junk foods, foods that can easily turn into sugar, sweets, chocolates, bakery products and excessive fruits. When the digestive system gets lazy; We are no longer satisfied without bread, we very often get hungry, we become unwilling to eat anything other than sweets and pastries.

As a result, we can say that an unhealthy digestive system = obesity and many metabolic diseases.

Therefore, we should choose healthy snacks that our children can eat when they are hungry, especially to protect our children from this pitfall. This way we can always keep their digestive system healthy and strong.

HEALTHY SNACKS

Healthy snacks are foods that do not quickly turn into sugar and contain proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

Whatever you choose the most beautiful, it should always be accompanied by hazelnut, walnut or almond.

If fruits are to be selected; It can be seasonal fruit and the amount should not be exaggerated, it can be as much as a palm.

Up to 1-2 dried fruits such as dried apricots and dried figs should be sufficient and not preferred every day.

It’s also helpful not to pass up on the nutritious options like dry meatballs that are sometimes made on the way to a picnic.

Cheddar cheese, carrot slices, and cucumber wrapped in lettuce can be several alternatives.

The main thing, as I just told you, there are food options that make the digestive system lazy, and it is enough not to have ready-made foods such as cakes. The rest is up to your imagination.

NOTE: Do not feed bran bread to your growing children, whether they have a weight problem or not. Since bran is not digested, it is often used by dieters to make them less hungry. However, dandruff also causes iron deficiency anemia as it affects the absorption of iron and calcium in users. That’s why we shouldn’t let our children eat.
