Hemorrhoids Symptoms
Hemorrhoids are seen in one in 4 people. There are two types of hemorrhoids, external and internal. Prof. dr. from Medipol University Pendik Hospital, Department of General Surgery, Surgical Oncology. Dr İlker Sücüllü said: “Hemorrhoids are vascular structures located in the last part of the digestive system, the anus. It has important tasks such as holding stool and gas and ensuring a complete closure of the anus. In some cases, they can become a hemorrhoidal disease with symptoms such as bleeding and sagging. External hemorrhoids are located in the most sensitive and pain-prone part of the breech presentation. If the vein clots here, an extremely painful swelling occurs. The most common symptom of internal hemorrhoids is painless swelling that protrudes from the anus. It is especially noticed by patients during the post-defecation cleansing process. If the hemorrhoid or pile protrudes completely or is herniated and cannot be pressed, it can cause severe pain.
Causes of Hemorrhoids
Prolonged sitting and sedentary living are risk factors for hemorrhoid disease. Dr. Instructor Member Tuba Mert continued as follows: Chronic constipation or diarrhea, bowel problems, pregnancy, heredity, overuse of stool softener or enema, inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are the basis for hemorrhoids. Some people are also at risk for hemorrhoids. For example; Hemorrhoids are common in occupations that require long sitting, such as secretary, civil servant, architecture, engineering, and banking. In addition, those who engage in sports such as bodybuilding, cycling, motorcycling and horseback riding are also at risk. On the other hand, older age, chronic constipation or diarrhea, stool problems, pregnancy, childbirth, sitting on the toilet for a long time or reading a book on the toilet also increase the risk of hemorrhoid disease. To relieve hemorrhoids, attention should be paid to a diet rich in fiber. In addition, warm water baths can be made at home, topical numbing creams and stool softeners can be used, and the stool period should be completed as soon as possible.
Hemorrhoid Symptoms
Prof. Dr. İlker Sücüllü said: “Although there is only rectal bleeding in the initial period of the disease, swelling in the rectum during defecation accompanies the bleeding in later periods. As the hemorrhoid progresses, these swellings no longer penetrate. Especially in advanced periods, the breech presentation becomes constantly wet due to the hemorrhoid nipples protruding Wet itching is also associated with other complaints There are also acute phase features of hemorrhoids (hemorrhoids) Internal hemorrhoids (hemorrhoids) come out, cannot go in and swell. They are full of blood. During this period, a large, swollen mass forms in the rectum and this stage is very painful. For hemorrhoidal disease that is easily treated at an early stage, a specialist in this area should be seen without delay consulted.
Symptoms of hemorrhoids can be confused with rectal area infections such as anal fissures, fistulas, abscess, wart, anus cancer, rectal cancer, rectal polyp, breech presentation, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, rectal fungal disease, gonococcus, syphilis, chlamydia. For this reason, if a patient gets blood from the anus while straining or oozes from the anus when straining, if there is itching, pain or painful swelling in the anus area, he should consult a doctor.
Treatment of hemorrhoids
Prof. Dr. İlker Sücüllü has listed the 5 most commonly used surgical methods in the treatment of hemorrhoids as follows:
“Classic method: It is the surgical removal of prolapsed and lost hemorrhoids. This method, called ‘hemorrhoidectomy’, is mainly used in advanced diseases and can be performed very comfortably today using modern devices (such as vascular sealing-ultrasonic dissector).
Laser method: it is the most popular technique among our patients. The goal here is to extinguish the sick suit by entering it with a laser device (ablation). The laser method is used effectively, especially in early stage disease. Post-operative pain, the main concern of our patients, is extremely rare with this technique because it does not damage the delicate skin structure of the anus. However, it should be emphasized that the laser method is not suitable for use at all stages of hemorrhoidal disease. A careful examination before the operation is of great importance.
Longo Method: The goal here is not to remove the diseased hemorrhoids pacs, but to hang them. The surgery is performed in the breech position, an area that is poorer in nerve network compared to the coccyx, reducing the sensation of pain after surgery. It is a technique that has been reported to give good results in breech presentation and advanced hemorrhoids.
Doppler method (DG-HAL): The method of finding and ligating the hemorrhoidal vessel under Doppler guidance. A device with a Doppler at the tip is placed in the anus and a vein goes to the hemorrhoid, and this vein is tied off and the hemorrhoid needs to be extinguished. During this procedure, in suitable patients, the hanging hemorrhoidal pack can be sutured up and hung. In this way, weak complaints can be partially controlled. This technique can also be used without traumatizing the anus and the postoperative pain is extremely low.
Rubber band ligation method: It is a technique known among the people as the “strangulation method”. The diseased hemorrhoid pack is aspirated (absorbed with a special device) and taken into a device with a rubber band on the end and suffocated with a rubber band. The procedure can be performed painlessly, without the need for an operating room, and after proper application, there is no pain after the procedure.
The success of all methods lies in the selection of the right method at the right stage. Here too, the surgeon’s experience comes to the fore.”
