Apple was expected to hold an event for the new iPad and Mac models in October. It was thought that the new iPad Pro models with M2 would also be showcased at this event. However, technology writer Mark Gurman claimed that Apple could announce new iPad models via press release or updates in a few days, and not hold an event. In fact, Gurman’s claims turned out to be true. Apple unveils the new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros with M2 and the 10th-generation ‘idle’ iPad with its updated design.

FEATURES OF THE NEW M2 iPAD PRO

The design of the new iPad Pros with M2 is almost identical to the previous generation. However, technically there are changes. The biggest change is of course the addition of the M2 chip.

According to Apple’s claim, the M2 has an 8-core CPU that is up to 15 percent faster than the M1, with improvements to both performance and efficiency cores, and a 10-core GPU that delivers up to 35 percent faster graphics performance. Using the 16-core Neural Engine, CPU and GPU, it runs 40 percent faster than the M1, with 15.8 trillion operations per second. The M2 chip offers 100GBps of unified memory bandwidth, 50 percent more than the M1, as well as support for fast unified memory up to 16GB.

On the other hand, the new M2 iPad Pros, which come with Wi-Fi 6E support, have touch-sensitive features with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil. Apple Pencil is now detectable from 12mm above the screen.
