Practice yoga for a healthy individual and a healthy society
Making a statement on the occasion of June 21 World Yoga Day, Assoc. Dr. Soycan Mızrak stated that the place of yoga in holistic health is undeniable; “It is known that yoga, which originated in India and is a kind of meditation, represents a whole that trains the body, mind and soul and allows the person to know themselves. There are studies that show the relationship with many chronic diseases Also, there are studies on human biochemistry at the hormonal level of pleasure, happiness and happiness. It has positive effects on the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system with the activation of endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, which are effective for relaxation. It supports the brain to be active by increasing the amount of gray matter.
By balancing the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, it protects against effects and conditions such as obesity, burnout, stress and depression, and regulates the immune system. It has positive effects on heart health by lowering heart rate and blood pressure. With its meditative effect, it teaches us to reach ourselves and discover our true love. It teaches how to live in harmony with the universe, which is at peace with itself and respectful of its environment.
Adding that the physical body is a very small part of existence, and that the human being is a whole with the existence of an energy body beyond the physical body, Mızrak said: “The chakras provide the proper flow of energy and yoga and meditation are important for balancing these chakras. June 21 has been declared World Yoga Day. Of course, today’s choice is no coincidence. It has been called both the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere and the summer solstice.
It is said that Shiva, who was the first yogi at the first full moon after the summer solstice, started spreading the teachings of yoga to the world and became a guru in the sense of the first teacher on this date. In short, yoga is not just about exercises that stretch and strengthen your muscles. It is an approach that improves the integrity and harmony of mind, spirit and body, thus bringing health and well-being. A journey from the outside world and nature to discovering your inner world is a teaching. Therefore, it is a very important approach to ensure social well-being and reduce violence and addictions. I congratulate World Yoga Day by saying that healthy individuals create a healthy society.
