Regional sweating and treatment methods
Regional sweating, which can be seen not only in summer but also in winter, has a negative impact on many people’s clothing preferences and thus on their social lives. Regional sweating, which reduces people’s quality of life, can be treated with minimal risk using non-surgical methods. People can be positive in both their social and private lives with the methods that are especially practiced in the spring months when the summer heat doesn’t set in. In addition, treatments can be performed within 15 minutes with minimal risk. Dr. Faculty member Şillan Naycı provided information about regional sweating and treatment methods.
Dr. from Medicana International Istanbul Hospital Dermatology Department states that it is normal to sweat indoors in the summer heat, under psychological pressure and when stress is intense. Faculty member Şillan Naycı said: “However, some people may also sweat inexplicably. All of these situations can even cause self-confidence problems in people. In some cases, some tried methods are not usable. If all solutions have been tried, the problem of excessive sweating can be treated in a short time.
It is usually applied to the hands, feet and underarms.
Dr. Dr. Faculty member Şillan Naycı continued: “Unwanted excessive sweating is a problem that can be easily treated. The most effective and convenient method of treatment that is applied non-surgically is the application of botox. The aim of the ‘Botuline Toxin’ applied is to stop nerve conduction in the nerve endings. In this way, sweat glands are not stimulated and sweating is prevented. Unlike wrinkle botox, which is very commonly applied to regional sweat areas such as hands, feet, and armpits, sweat botox is applied under the skin, not intramuscularly.
You can get rid of sweat painlessly
In response to the question whether botox sweating is painful, Şillan Naycı said, “Since it is administered by injection, some patient groups raise the question of aches and pains. However, the procedure is a painless one. Because first of all, the area to be treated is determined and local anesthetic cream is applied 20 minutes before the procedure. After sufficient numbness has been achieved, the area to be treated is cleaned with an antiseptic solution. In the area of application, the injection points are determined with a marker at intervals of approximately 1 cm. The prepared Botulinum Toxin is administered subcutaneously with small injectors. The process only takes 15 minutes,” he said.
The effect differs from person to person.
Noting that the duration of the procedure differs from person to person, Naycı said, “However, the sweating problem disappears over a period of 6 months. However, it can be seen that the effect of the procedure can last up to 1 year in some people. Certain types of botulinum toxin, which are used with the approval of the Ministry of Health and have passed various tests, are used reliably. Since it is an injection procedure, completely temporary redness and bruising may occur at the injection sites. But these effects disappear in a short time. The area should not come into contact with water on the day of the procedure and hygiene rules should be applied as determined by the doctor. In addition, no cosmetic product should be used on the treated area. For example, if the area is under the armpits, soap and water should not be touched and products such as deodorant or perfume should be avoided. At the end of the procedure, patients can easily return to their home or work. Sweating Botox is an often preferred treatment method due to its effectiveness and ease of use. It is possible to increase the quality of life with botox, which will mainly be applied in the spring, before the summer heat sets in.
Shows its effect in 4 to 7 days
Naycı continues his words by saying, “It is necessary to wait about 1 week (4-7 days) to see the full effect of Botox on sweaty areas,” and continued: “After an average of 2 weeks, patients are called for a check-up and a sweat test is applied to them.A control botox dose is applied accordingly.Sweating botox is not recommended for pregnant women, nursing mothers, people with infection or open wounds in the area where the injection will be given, people with neurological disease with muscle weakness and rheumatoid arthritis patients taking certain medications. Sweating botox can easily be applied to patients other than these people, with a doctor’s evaluation,” he concluded.
