Sorrel, called Rumex acetocella in scientific literature, is a plant species with a red stem. Sorrel, which contains high amounts of potassium in its leaves, also contains oxalate, oxalic acid, tannin, anthraquinone, resin and sugar. In addition, it is rich in vitamins A, B and C. It resembles sea lavender because of the long hairless leaves.

Among the people, they are also known as sourness, capricorn ear and ebemekşisi. Although it is mostly grown in Tokat in Turkey, in European countries in the world it is grown under the greenhouse method.

However, sorrel is a plant that grows spontaneously in wetlands. This plant, which reaches full maturity in autumn, can be found on market stalls during the winter months.

Commonly used for skin diseases since ancient times, sorrel provides one-to-one benefits, especially for psoriasis, eczema, and boils. The acid content it contains renews the deformed cells on the surface of the skin. It has a strong germicidal effect. In recent studies, it has been established that the plant has a breast milk-increasing effect. Sorrel, belonging to the buckwheat family, grows easily on moist soils. It can be consumed raw.

Sorrel juice is used in alternative medicine, especially in the treatment of skin diseases. After a bunch of sorrel is thoroughly washed, a liter of water is added and boiled. The water that boils for half an hour is filtered.

If you put the soft sorrel gruel on the dried heel or elbow, stretch it and wait half an hour. This helps regenerate the area. In addition, when this water is applied to conditions such as eczema, it renews the deformed area. Sorrel is dried and boiled to make tea. This tea is a strong diuretic. It regulates digestion and renews the functions of bile.

Thoroughly wash a bunch of sorrel. Soak in vinegar water for an hour. Then finely chop it, put it on a plate, chop a cucumber, add olive oil, lemon and chili pepper and consume it. When you consume this salad as a snack, it also helps you lose weight.
