Water consumption is vital in hot weather

The rise in air temperatures affected all of Turkey. Experts warned not to go outside in hot weather and drink plenty of water, but drew attention to health problems that can arise.

“With the loss of sweat, the loss of minerals in the body is too much”

Dietician Uğur Aslanbay stated that the water loss is excessive with the warming of the weather and said, “Especially in this period, with the loss of sweat, the loss of minerals in the body is very high. Mineral loss can also have an adverse effect on the functions of many organs in our body. Unfortunately, it affects all organs, especially from the heart. It has an adverse effect. Therefore, the amount of water that an adult person should consume per day is on average 8-10 glasses of water. If we say we’re going to adjust this, we can make a small calculation of your weight. With my average of 30 miles per kilo, we can calculate this. For example, a person who weighs 50 kilograms multiplied by thirty makes one thousand 500. So one and a half liters of water consumption is valid for someone. Of course we can get over that. There is no problem,” he said.

“They have to add 2 to 2 and a half liters of water on top of our water consumption as standard”

Aslanbay said: “This can cause a lot of distress, especially for our nursing mothers. They are experiencing a lot of water loss and mineral loss and they should increase their water consumption. Those who exercise or have more physical activity should definitely increase their water consumption with sweating properties as we will experience additional fluid loss. In other words, they should definitely contribute to our standard water consumption of 2 to 2.5 liters.”

“Our diet based on fruits and vegetables will prevent our loss of water and minerals”

Pointing to the harm of fatty foods in hot weather, Aslanbay said: “In these days, when air temperatures are above seasonal norms, fatty foods are particularly thirsty. We should definitely stay away from them. In the Central Anatolian region, in the Eastern Anatolian region, such situations may seem very common. But in other regions, perhaps a little more plant-based diet, a fruit-based diet is more. loss and mineral loss will occur. The body will perform its functions. In this way we can say that it will be good for us to eat,” he said.

“We can experience many problems associated with mineral loss”

Aslanbay stated that loss of water causes many health problems and said, “We may experience kidney disorders. There may be problems in the heart, such as arrhythmia. We may experience many problems related to mineral loss. In other words, everything from visual impairment to sleep disorder can occur. We can say that water is a food that is essential for life during the day. Therefore, it will be very beneficial for us to consume water under any circumstances. Of course, we advise our elderly not to go out too much in this hot weather. Plant-based diets are beneficial. Again, it will be beneficial for them to drink their water consumption as much as they need, and not to go below 1.5 to 2 liters,” he said.
