This can be caused by deterioration of the discs between the bones of the spine, weakening of the muscles or damage to the nervous system. Symptoms of scoliosis include back pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, shoulder or hip asymmetry, and hunched back. Early diagnosis is very important for the treatment of scoliosis. Depending on the degree of scoliosis, different treatment methods can be used. In mild cases of scoliosis, physical therapy, exercise, and the use of a corset may be sufficient. In moderate or severe cases of scoliosis, surgical intervention may be required. In surgical procedures, metal rods and screws are used to correct the curvature of the spine.

These include genetic predisposition, congenital abnormalities, hormonal disorders, rapid development later in life, and trauma. For the prevention of scoliosis, regular exercise, healthy diet, attention to posture and when symptoms such as back pain or asymmetry are noticed, a doctor should be consulted.
