Women can extend the age of menopause by taking care of themselves
The age of mothers is increasing day by day. Pregnancy planning begins after the age of 30-35. Because women take a more active role in education and working life, and because of career expectations, marriage and pregnancy plans are inevitably postponed to older ages. Many women now have their first birth after the age of thirty. But, of course, it is known that after the age of 35, ovarian reserves in women gradually decrease. Emphasizing that one of the main criteria that determines the age of menopause in terms of ovaries, Prof. Dr. Sibel Özler said: “Women can extend the age of menopause by looking at themselves.”
prof. Dr. Sibel Özler: “The main factors determining menopausal age and ovarian reserve are genetics, then diet and environmental factors. Ovarian reserve refers to the number and quality of follicles (eggs) in the ovaries of a woman. The duration of the menopausal reserve affects the time to enter menopause.Otherwise, with the effect of nutritional deficiencies and environmental factors, the ovarian reserve can sometimes decrease even up to the age of 23. For example, having endometriosis, which we call chocolate cyst, polycystic ovarian syndrome with obesity or insulin resistance, which we see at age 40. It can cause ovarian reserve to be withdrawn until age 25,” he said.
“Vitamins are essential for egg quality”
Noting that the quality of eggs decreases due to the insufficiency of vitamins and minerals in women, Prof. Dr. Sibel Özler stated that the pregnancy adventure should be planned and a specialist doctor should be consulted before planning and that the baby should be considered after the missing vitamin and mineral supplements have been taken and supplemented. Prof. Dr. Sibel Özler: “At least 3 months before pregnancy, both women and men should do all blood tests at the same time and then take the missing vitamin and mineral supplements regularly. If the ovarian reserve is low in the studies, special supplements should be added to vitamins during pregnancy and mineral deficiencies as there is usually no supplement beforehand it should be started at a high dose it cannot be started at an adequate dose as it is deficient apart from that in our patient groups with polystic ovary syndrome or insulin resistance, supportive treatment should be taken. After the pregnancy process develops, a baby is added to these supplements as guidance. We provide omega supplements in the post-baby period. Zinc selenium levels are absolutely essential for both fetal and brain development improving the general condition of the mother Omega, zinc, selenium, vitamins B 12, D should be used. Even if it is not missing, it is essential for pregnancy and fetal growth. There are too many expectant mothers who are obese due to environmental factors. We definitely recommend planning a pregnancy after weight loss,” he said.
prof. Dr Özler said: “If there is a pregnancy plan, both the mother-to-be and the father-to-be should be assessed by a specialist doctor. Necessary tests, supplements to be given before pregnancy, additional examination of the father-to-be and ultrasound examination of the expectant mother are essential. After that, a planned pregnancy is a must. “In our time, infertility is increasing rapidly. Of course environmental factors have a lot of influence on it. The values of the nutrients we take in are lost. Therefore, it is very suitable to start pregnancy after the necessary supplements have been taken simultaneously for both expectant mothers and fathers.”
